Northern Flicker

Northern Flicker

While out on a walk, we encountered this Northern Flicker. It's nice to see some of the summer resident birds returning.

Stubby the Squirrel

There is a squirrel with a very short tail that has been visiting our yard. We call him "Stubby." Actually, there are two such squirrels. We're not sure what happened to them, but they still run and climb very fast, perhaps faster than the squirrels weighted down by bushy tails.

I have one here in German Village Columbus.
He is almost a pet now, comes right up to the door. I call him Bunny. :)

Nyjer Feeder Birdcam

Male and Female Goldfinch

Goldfinches and House finch.

The goldfinches are starting to look more colorful this time of year. Like many birds, the male bird has more brilliant colors than the female. We put out the birdcam to photograph birds on the nyjer feeder. The bottom photo also got a house finch. It looks like we need to get a larger bird feeder.

House Finches courtship feeding

We went to Connecticut for Easter but left the birdcam on to see who was at the bird feeder. We had observed the courtship feeding in cardinals, but this is the first time we noticed it in house finches.
