Oriole Update

Baltimore Oriole

Oriole

The Baltimore Orioles have returned and are occasionally feeding at the oranges or jelly. This one is at one of Chris' orange halves with some of the orange scooped out and replaced with grape jelly. She tries hard to accomodate different tastes.

We are still hoping for an Oriole nest.

I had a Baltimore Oriole visit my hummingbird feeder the other day. It was the first time I saw one in my yard and it was exciting. I posted about it here: http://gratefulprayerthankfulheart.blogspot.com/2011/05/thats-not-hummingbird.html

That's neat. We only rarely get hummingbirds, but we saw one at the oriole feeder briefly last week.

Lake Neslon Update

Goose Egg

Cormorant

Ducks

Deer

The dam on Lake Nelson was fixed and with all the rain, the lake is full.
A big thanks for all who volunteered and helped with the repairs.

Before the dam was fixed, a goose used our floating island as a nest. We think it abandoned the nest, it only sat on it a few days. Now that the lake is back, we've had one cormorant on the lake and a few ducks have returned. We did get to take the boat out and ran into a nice deer at a stream that feeds the lake.
